Academic Meeting Held on AI-Supported and Human-Centered Writing Skills
An academic meeting focusing on AI-supported and human-centered writing skills, as well as human and AI-based grading processes, was held at our University. The meeting was conducted under the leadership of CILT-AI Coordinator Assist. Prof. Mehmet Akın Bulut, with the contributions of Assist. Prof. Merve Armağan Boğatekin from the Department of Psychology.

During the meeting, the role of generative artificial intelligence tools in enhancing writing skills in higher education was comprehensively examined from pedagogical, ethical, and assessment perspectives. Discussions centered on how AI-supported writing processes can be integrated into students’ academic production, and how human guidance, critical thinking, and academic integrity can be preserved and strengthened within this framework.

In addition, the consistency, validity, and reliability of human evaluation and AI-based grading systems were comparatively analyzed. While emphasizing the contribution of a human-centered writing approach to originality, in-depth thinking, and the development of higher-order cognitive skills, the potential of AI-supported systems to provide rapid, systematic, and personalized feedback was also highlighted.

This academic initiative aims to contribute to the structured integration of artificial intelligence applications in higher education in alignment with human-centered pedagogical principles, ensuring a balanced integration of technology and human evaluation processes.
